In the performance sounds created by body music, feet and song connect in the show in a focused and fascinating way. Feet Sonic consists of original pieces by Jussi Lindroos and arrangements of traditional songs. The athmosphere at the Manilla Culture Centre's Vanha Viinatehdas and the focused solo technique make the performance exciting and pleasant to watch. Jussi Lindroos is a performing artist, choreographer and producer originally from Turku Finland. Lindroos combines percussive dance techniques, body music and elements from afro-american popular music, jazz and world music styles in his performances. He has collaborated and performed with a number of high level jazz- and world musicians in Finland and abroad.

"With this Summer 2024 Photo Challenge for European desicion makers I wanted to encourage European parlament and national parlament representatives to discuss about important topics like gender equality and body positivity regardless of gender or age. Personally, appearing in a swimsuit has always been connected to a story that comes from my childhood – a situation that required a lot of courage from a small child. In my freetime I enjoy much swimming and beach life, but a scar like this is not always so pleasant to have. RitmAbo performances have also been presented in Helsinki in festivals and venues like Art Goes Kapakka in Bar Socis during the Helsingin Juhlaviikot, Koko Jazz Club and Kanneltalo concert hall by City of Helsinki culture and leisure. RitmAbo performance is a fantastic blend of fresh artistic collaboration, prepared program, unexpected moments and improvisation on stage. The performances offer the audience a possibility to experience unique moments with superior percussive dance and live music. The artistic director and producer of the series is tap and vocal artist Jussi Lindroos. RitmAbo collaborates with many collaboration partners including the Regional Dance Centre in Western Finland, Turku Area Music School (previously, currently the concervatory), festivals and event venues in performances in Turku. The festival performances planned during the Covid pandemic were planned and prepared tobe seen at the Vanha Viinatehdas, old winery space, in Manilla culture center. These performances were supported by Pro Manilla Foundation. RITMABO 2022: The public performances for RitmAbo Festival December 27th -28th 2021 will be moved to new dates or cancelled. We are currently following the development of the restrictions and situation with the collaborating partners of the series. He combines elements of tap dance, body music and afro-american music cultures, jazz and folk music in his performances. Lindroos has collaborated with many high level jazz and folk musicians in Finland and abroad, varying from a tap dancer and folk musician duo concert to big band shows. He has shared the stage among other with jazz singer Cyrille Aimée, Greek percussionist Petros Kourtis and leading contemporary masters in American tap tradition like Heather Cornell, Max Pollak and Roxane Butterfly. NOCHE FLAMENCA - Taija Robalta, Tony de Maria (Toni Jokiniitty) photos: Katri Somerjoki, Liisa Mäkinen Taija Robalta is a flamenco singer and vocal teacher from Helsinki. She brings to the evening a touch of the athmosphere from the tablaos in Sevilla with her traditional singing. She has lived many years in Sevilla and studied with singer legend Esperanza Fernández. Taija has also accompanied dance classes in Sevilla with her vocals (e.g. Carmen Ledesma, Miguel Vargas) and performed in the tablaos as a singer aswell as dancer. In Finland Taija has performed as singer in dance performances, tablao style shows and with flamenco dance students. At the moment Taija teaches flamenco singing in Helsinki and Tampere. Toni Jokiniitty alias Tony de María is a flamenco guitar player from Pirkkala. In the concert he plays his own compositions and music from flamenco masters he admires. During his career he has performed in many venues in Finland with his solo concerts and different guitar collaborations. He has also performed in the Baltic countries, Germany and Sweden and, of course, also in Spain. In 2015 Toni published his solo album and this year he has published more music. The tenth anniversary season show New York Rhythms inlcuded guests including choreographer, sand and tap dancer Heather Cornell from New York. The guest music artists are saxophonist Manuel Dunkel and pianist Sid Hille in Rhodes. The evening was hosted by tap and vocal artist Jussi Lindroos. Besides different kind of tap shoes choreographer, sand and tap dancer Heather Cornell (New York), plays sand creating faschinatingly swinging and grooving rhythms. Cornell has influenced the international tap scene for many decades and has collaborated with many leading and interesting jazz musicians and world music artists. She has worked among others with the jazz bass icon Ray Brown, Keith Terry's Crosspulse, drummer Lewis Nash and argentinian accordion player Chango Spasiuk among many other. Cornell worked as the artistic director and choreographer of the renowed Manhattan Tap, a New York based consert tap ensemble, for over two decades. Cornell also choreographed the Tony nominated "The Play what I wrote" for Broadway. She is internationally known as one of the pioneers of concert tap and a leading characters in developing percussive dance as an integrated part of music. Dance magazine has described her choreography as visual music and she calls herself a physical musician. As one of her latest collaborations Cornell has recorded a music album Making Music Dance with New York based world musicians and flamenco artists. RitmAbo series has been earlier supported among other by Dance Centre of South-Western Finland, Turku Area Music School and local tap dance scene.
