Tap master, body percussion virtuoso and afro-cuban music specialist Max Pollak from New York performs as a special guest in RitmÅbo in November!

Max Pollak is one of the leading and undoubtedly most interesting names in the global tap and body percussion scenes today. He is recognized worldwide for his superior musicianship and his highly individual style to merge authentic Afro-Cuban music and dance with American rhythm tap and body music. Pollak has worked with Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, Chucho Valdés, Lila Downs and jazz legends including Ray Brown, Phil Woods, Paquito D'Rivera, Slide Hampton and Danilo Perez. He toured with Cyro Baptista’s percussion ensemble Beat The Donkey, Heather Cornell's bebob tap quatet Manhattan Tap, Urban Tap, Rennie Harris Pure Movement, Feet 2 The Beat, Roxane Butterfly and Grupo Los Santos. Pollak has previously visited Finland at various tap events and at the Kuopio Dance Festival.

Jorma Kalevi Louhivuori is a versatile jazz trumpeter, composer and band leader. While he is known for his Nordic style infuences in his playing he often also explores very different styles and music genres. Louhivuori is the leader of the afrobeat ensemble, dubbed as the ambassadors of rhythm, The Northern Governors, Sun Trio and J.K.L Quintet. He has had important influence on the folk-jazz artist Yona’s recordings and in several afrobeat, reggae and hip hop projects. He also plays at the successful Ricky-Tick Big Band.

Aki Rissanen has become one of the most interesting pianist in Finnish Jazz. He performs with groups such as UMO Jazz Orchestra, Verneri Pohjola Aurora, Reactor-5, Jussi Lehtonen Band, Aki Rissanen - Robin Verheyen Duo and White Light Quartet. Rissanen has released three soloalbums and recorded as a sideman on over 15 albums among others with Rick Margitza, Tim Hagans, Juhani Aaltonen and Pepa Päivinen.

Jussi Lindroos is a Finnish tap dancer, teacher and producer. He has shared the stage with concert tap pioneers Heather Cornell and Max Pollak and collaborated with awarded French jazz singer Cyrille Aimée. His collaborations include top level Finnish jazz and folk musicians.
